Djurgarden lost 1-2 to IF Elfsborg in Allsvenskan round 22 on Sunday. A late goal from Simon Olsson in the 76th minute decided the match at home.
Jacob Une Larsson had equalised to make it 1-1 in the 66th minute following a pass from Kristian Strømland Lien. Defensive lapses proved costly in the end. Elfsborg had taken the lead just before half-time through Rasmus Wikström.
Manager Jani Honkavaara made several changes during the game, including bringing on Oskar Fallenius directly after the break. Djurgarden dominated possession with 55 percent but created too few dangerous chances. The team managed only two shots on target compared to Elfsborg's three. Daniel Stensson received a yellow card for dissent in the first half.
The table position
The defeat means Djurgarden remain in third place in Allsvenskan with 41 points from 22 games. The team has won 13 of those and has a goal difference of +26. They now trail league leaders Sirius by ten points. Check the current standings on our standings page.
Kristian Strømland Lien, who provided his 15th assist of the season, remains the team's top scorer with 15 goals. He and Bo Åsulv Hegland have a productive partnership that was recently on display in the win against Gais.
The road ahead
