Djurgarden suffered their first defeat in five matches, losing 1-2 at home to IF Elfsborg. Jacob Une Larsson equalised in the 66th minute, but a later goal from Simon Olsson decided the contest.
Janne Honkavaara's side enjoyed 55 percent possession but created too few clear chances. Elfsborg were more clinical and took the lead just before half-time through Rasmus Wikström. Djurgarden's equaliser came from a Kristian Strømland Lien cross headed in by Une Larsson. Just ten minutes later, Simon Olsson made it 2-1 following a pass from Alexander Jensen.
Despite the loss, Djurgarden remain second in the Allsvenskan with 41 points from 21 games. Kristian Strømland Lien, who provided his tenth assist of the season, is also the team's top scorer with 15 goals. The team's recent form, with three wins and a draw in the four matches prior to this defeat, has now been ended. The next challenge is a Stockholm derby away to Hammarby on October 11th. It's a direct clash at the top of the table, and Djurgarden need a response.
