Miro Tenho is back in full training and ready to play. Djurgarden's 31-year-old defender has recovered from the neck stiffness he suffered in a collision with Elfsborg's Charlie Rosenqvist.
Two days of training at Kaknäs have confirmed Tenho is fine. He left the pitch with medical assistance in the closing stages of the 1-2 loss to IF Elfsborg on September 20. After a week of rest, he is now fully fit.
"He's a bit stiff in the neck. But otherwise he's okay," says head coach Jani Honkavaara.
The update means Tenho will now travel to join the Finland national team. Finland has Nations League matches against Belarus and Albania this week. Teammate Adam Ståhl is already with the squad.
For Djurgarden, who sit third in Allsvenskan with 41 points, the news is key ahead of a tough schedule. The club's next match is away against second-placed Hammarby on October 11, a derby where Tenho's defensive stability will be needed.
Meanwhile, another key player, Piotr Johansson, is being held back with a minor issue. The 31-year-old midfielder missed the first training sessions this week.
"He doesn't have to play. But if he plays, it's a nice surprise," states Honkavaara regarding Johansson's chances of featuring in the friendly against German side Osnabrück. The club is being cautious with the problem, which has not improved during the break. Djurgarden's squad list will therefore need careful management in the coming days. The team's strong form of four wins in their last five matches must now be defended in another edition of the Stockholm derby.
