Djurgården have handed trials to two Nigerian youngsters. Defender Usman Emmanuel Inalegwu and striker Longi Aaron, both from the Ikonnekt Football Academy, trained with the club on Monday.

The club, who sit third in the Allsvenskan table with 41 points from 22 games, announced the training session via their official website. It is part of a broader strategy to gain an edge in the market. During the summer, Djurgården strengthened significantly with signings including striker Abdul Abdulmalik, a move that made international headlines.

It is not yet clear if the trial will lead to a contract. But the move shows Djurgården continue to scout for talent, even after breaking their club transfer record. Abdulmalik arrived from English side Boreham Wood for a fee reported to be around 22 million Swedish kronor.

"Djurgården meet Hammarby in their next Allsvenskan match," said Filip Rydström. It will be a tough away fixture against the second-placed side on October 11th.

The history between Djurgården and Nigerian players is not new. Names like Haruna Garba, Prince Ikpe Ekong and Kennedy Igboananike have represented the club in the past. Recent form is strong with four wins in the last five matches, according to our stats.

The aim is to stay at the top end of the Allsvenskan, where they trail leaders Sirius by ten points. The next test of that will be the Stockholm derby against Hammarby in just over a week.
