Djurgården squandered late chances in a 0-0 draw at Örgryte on 26 July 2026. Despite dominating much of the game and creating several clear opportunities, the visitors left Gamla Ullevi empty-handed. Örgryte held firm and preserved their clean sheet for the first time in 100 days, since their 0-0 draw with Mjällby on 11 April.
What happened on the pitch?
Örgryte started brightly and created an early chance in the fifth minute through Adam Andersson, but his header cannoned into Djurgården goalkeeper Jacob Rinne. The visitors’ best chance after the break came from Kristian Lien, who was inches away from putting Stockholm ahead from a corner.
In the second half, Öis defended resolutely, keeping Djurgården at arm’s length from goal. Noah Christoffersson twice threatened to break the deadlock, as did William Hofvander. Jacob Rinne made several crucial stops to preserve his clean sheet for the first time since April.
Joel Asoro had Djurgården’s best chance of the game in added time, but his header drifted wide. Assistant coach Jesper Swedlund was nonetheless pleased with the effort: We had some good chances in the first half and defended the box well. Asoro’s header was their most dangerous moment today. Örgryte now sit on ten points and leap into a playoff spot thanks to superior goal difference.
Why did Djurgården fail to secure all three points?
Djurgården controlled large spells but missed key moments. William Hofvander of Örgryte praised his side’s defensive work, saying: We managed well and kept them out of dangerous areas. They can take their crosses and we’ll just send it back to their keeper.
Örgryte stood firm against a Djurgården side starting brightly. Mikael Dyrestam was satisfied with the clean sheet after two matches in which Öis had conceded six goals in total since the restart. We tried to stay close and work hard to be in the game, he said.
Djurgården currently sit fourth in Allsvenskan with six points from three games: two wins and one defeat. They have scored four goals and conceded three, with a +1 goal difference. They trail leaders IF Elfsborg by one point and face AIK at home on 16 August 2026.
